Hi, we're the Tesch family
Neither of us grew up with cows
We bought raw land in Bells during Covid, and before the fence was even up, Sarah was already shopping for cows.

Neither of us grew up with livestock. We started with three weanlings in 2021, dove in head first, and learned as we went. Today it's over 100 head of cattle, 6 horses, 6 mini donkeys, alpacas, a flock of free-ranging chickens, three kids who wouldn't trade it, and a sunset from our hilltop we never get tired of.
Tesch Hillside Ranch sits in Bells, Texas, an hour north of Dallas in the Texoma country. It has been surreal watching this come to life from a raw piece of land we bought on a whim. Spending time with the animals and watching the sunset from our hilltop are still our two favorite things to do.

How we got here
From raw land to 100 head
It started with raw land and three weanlings. Here's how it filled up.
During Covid
We stopped saying someday
We had always planned to buy land and raise livestock someday. During Covid we looked at each other and asked what we were waiting for. Within a couple of months we had raw land in Bells and a building plan, and before the fencing was even up, Sarah was searching for cows.
2021
Three weanlings, and no idea what we were doing
Sarah had always loved cows, and she was happily surprised to find people raising Highlands in the heat of Texas. We started with three weanlings. Neither of us grew up with livestock, so we dove in head first and learned as we went.
Since then
We traveled the country to build the herd
Registered Highlands and mini Highland crosses, picked one at a time. Today it is over 100 head of cattle, 6 horses, 6 mini donkeys, alpacas and a flock of free-ranging chickens, spread across four properties, and every one of them has a name.
Today
Addison, Landon and Brecken
Our three kids have taken to ranch life completely, and it has taught them things we never could have planned. When we are not tending to the ranch you will find us at a local ball field watching them play. It is a labor of love and we would not have it any other way.

We take great pride in raising quality animals. We spend countless hours making sure they come to you pre-loved, and we trust you will love them as much as we do.

The gate opens for events
You can read about a Highland all day, but it does not land until one leans into you for a scratch. We're a private ranch, so the way in is a ticketed event or a booked tour. Pick a date, or take a look at who is for sale right now.
